Judith Rothchild was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1950 and studied at Sarah Lawrence College before entering and completing her artistic degree at the Rhode Island School of Design. In 1974 she moved to Europe to continue her training at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna. Since 1996, she has abandoned oils and water-based media in favour of devoting herself to mezzotint printmaking, the most demanding of all printmaking techniques, for which she has established a strong international reputation over the last ten years. She produces her screenprints and mezzotints in her own atelier, as well as livres d'artiste. Judith Rothchild lives and works in a small village in the Languedoc region of France.
