Oliviero Masi was born in 1949 in Busto Arsizio, a small town northwest of Milan, Italy. Over the past decade, Masi has proven himself to be a printmaker of exceptional technical ability and poetic sensibility. Influenced by the peace of the Italian countryside, Masi explores the variable nuances of light and color in the landscape using a sophisticated combination of softground and aquatint techniques. The resulting prints are exquisite multi-plate intaglios that have the look and texture of a pastel drawing. Masi prints have been exhibited extensively over the past 15 years in galleries throughout Europe and South America. The artist currently spends his time between Milan and Paris.
